isbc bali & the founder’s journey
ISBC Bali was founded in 2023 in Denpasar, Bali. But before that, everything started from a small community called ISBC Banten.
ISBC stands for Indonesia South Beach Community. The name was inspired by the founder, Umang, who comes from the southern coastal area of Banten.
In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, ISBC Banten was created as a free sports and fitness community for local people. The goal was simple: to educate the community about the importance of health and exercise during difficult times.
At that time, free training sessions were held up to three times a day for people around Binuangeun, Tanjung Panto, and nearby areas in Lebak, Banten.
As time went by, ISBC’s free training sessions became more and more popular, and the community quickly grew.
However, after around six months, Umang had to return to Jakarta because of work. After moving back to Jakarta, ISBC in Banten faced many challenges.
Driven by passion
That’s when Umang started to see the reality of many of his students’ lives. Some worked as construction workers, street food sellers, and fishermen. Many of them had dropped out of school and did not have proper opportunities or a place to develop their potential.
This realization was the moment things became the beginning of a much bigger dream.
Because of his strong social spirit, Umang wanted to create equal opportunities for everyone. He believed that many young people in his hometown had incredible talent, but lacked the platform and support to grow.
So ISBC Academy Jakarta and ISBC Jakarta were created as a place for talented individuals to build a better future through sports. ISBC Jakarta was built not only to create fighters, but also to open better career opportunities as coaches and trainers.
Besides combat sports training, members were also taught public speaking, personal branding, and mindset development to help them grow in the modern digital era.
Meanwhile, in Banten, ISBC Academy Banten continues to operate with its original free-training concept for the local community. It remains the place where many dreams begin.
In simple words, ISBC Banten is the place to start, while ISBC Jakarta is the place to grow.
Umang believes that when people are willing to train hard, dedicate their time, and sweat for their future, they deserve a proper platform and greater opportunities to develop themselves. That’s why those who show consistency, discipline, and hard work are given the opportunity to continue their journey in Jakarta and reach a higher level.
BUILDING A COMMUNITY TOGETHER
After some time, Umang moved to Bali to expand and start ISBC Bali. In the beginning starting from Denpasar, then expanding to Jimbaran, and eventually growing in Uluwatu.
Today, ISBC Uluwatu has become one of the most active and popular fight gym communities among both local and international visitors.
But for ISBC, this has never been only about building a gym. It is about building a community, creating opportunities, and helping dreams grow together.
